Item Details.
Modelled in the round figure of Heracles (Roman Hercules, Greek Herakles) standing nude with the lion skin mantle draped over his extended left forearm, the right arm bent and fist raised (originally holding a club); the hair cut short and radiating from the crown of the head, lentoid eyes flanking a snub nose; mounted on a custom-made stand. Excellent green patina.

Provenance: Fridolin (1903-1969) and Halina (1907-1989) Schwitter-Lagutt Collection, Basel; previously with Donati Arte Classica, Lugano, 1958.
Exhibited: On loan to the Antikenmuseum, Basel, 1969.
