Item Details.
Solid gold with thick oval bezel, finely engraved with the profile busts of the Dioscuri Castor and Pollux, standing side by side.
The Dioscuri Castor and Pollux (from Greek Dioskouroi, “Sons of Zeus”), in Greek and Roman mythology were twin gods who helped sailors stranded at sea and shipwrecked and received offerings for favourable winds.

Provenance: ex. Mrs A.D., acquired from a London gallery in the 1990s.
