Item Details.
Faience amulet with nice details of the hippopotamus goddess Taweret represented in human body, pregnant, plumed back. Wide ridged loop at the back for suspension.
Taweret was especially helpful to women during childbirth. Such amulets were attached to beds, headrests, cosmetic articles. She also is known to expel malignant forces.

Provenance: ex. Mr. R. T., acquired prior to 2000.
