Item Details.
A baby with a lively face is tightly wrapped in bandages which would have been offered to the gods to ask for protection from childhood diseases. It might have contained grains and perfumes. It was customary to wrap children in cloth until about their first year. This swaddling would give the child peace of mind and also prevent the arms and legs from growing crooked.
