Item Details.

With vine leaves and tendrils decoration to one side and dots on the reverse.

The ornament is executed in the Gnathia technique, with motifs added over the black glaze in three colours and set off by incised lines. The vase finds extremely close parallels in two major collections, almost certainly products of the same Canosan workshop.

Provenance: ex. British collection acquired on the London art market in the 1990s.

Attribution verified by accredited archaeologist, specialist in Ancient Mediterranean Ceramics and Numismatics.
