Item Details.
Wearing the horned sun-disk with a frontal Uraeus, elongated snout, engraved eyes and details, long dorsal fin and bifurcated tail. The ventral fins connect to an integrally cast sled-shaped base. Mounted on a wooden stand.
The oxyrhynchus fish helped Isis to find the dismembered Osiris in the Nile and became thus the patron and the supporter of the revival in the afterlife.

Provenance: Collection of Robert J. Molnar, Hillsdale, NJ, acquired in the 1960s. Thence US art market, New York, October 2013.
