Item Details.
Large amulet of the hippopotamus goddess TAWERET, represented in human body, with a cobra between her feet, finely carved with extremely fine details.
Taweret was especially helpful to women during childbirth. Such amulets were attached to beds, head-rests, cosmetic articles. She also is known to expel malignant forces.

Provenance: Private British collection, Mr. D. M., Scotland.
