Item Details.
Extremely fine amulet of Taweret of typical form with left leg advancing, a full stomach and drooping breasts, arms by the sides, a hippopotamus head and a crocodile tail extending down the back, in bright blue lapis lazuli stone. Loop at the back for suspension.
Such amulets were attached to beds, head-rests, cosmetic articles. She also is known to expel malignant forces. Taweret was especially helpful to women during childbirth.

Provenance: ex. British collection Mr. N. W., acquired prior to 2005.
