Item Details.
In the shape of a centaur in profile looking to his left, one arm raised to hold probably a spear, tip of which is incised by the centaur’s shoulder. Other details are also faintly incised, including the cap and part of his curly hair.

Such appliques would be riveted to a hoplite shield, but in the present case the soldered hole-less attachment to a metallic support places the piece securely among the appliqués for bronze vessels or furniture, and excludes both the shield interpretation and the riveted tripod-handle type.
