Item Details.
Superb quality and patina oxyrynchus fish on a sledge, fronted by Hathor’s horns and sun disk, a Uraeus in front. Very finely engraved details.
The grey-coloured fish (Marymus kannume) was regarded as a form of the goddess Hathor. It figures in the later version of the Osiris legend as the creature which swallowed and preserved the phallus of the dismembered king.

Provenance: German private collection acquired in Germany in the 1970s.
